Anagramist is a calm and simple anagram game. Each round deals a random and scrambled seven-letter word — find every word of three or more letters hidden in its tiles. This page is here to help if something isn't working or you have a question.

How do I play?

Each round deals a scrambled seven-letter word. Tap the tiles or type to spell a word of three or more letters, then submit it. Find every valid word to complete the board. There are no timers and no scoring — take as long as you like.

You can tap on a word to see its meaning if you want to learn.

You can give up & reveal all the missing words and their meanings, then start a new game.

What words count?

Anagramist uses the NASPA School Word List (2023) with an aggressive kid-friendly filter and gentle obscurity filter.

If a common word isn't being accepted, or if you think one is too rare, let me know and I'll take a look!

How do I change the theme?

Anagramist has light and dark themes. It follows your device's preference by default, but you can open the menu to switch between them.

What are the different game modes?

There are three ways to play: classic seven letters, a tougher eight-letter mode, and You-Choose, where you set your own challenge. You can pick a mode from the menu.

Is my data private?

Yes. Anagramist has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Your progress and settings stay on your device. See the privacy policy for the full details.

I made an in-app purchase — how does that work?

The optional one-time in-app purchase is a way to support development. It's handled by Apple, so I never see your payment information. If you need help with a purchase, refund, or restoring it on a new device, Apple manages billing — but feel free to email me and I'll help however I can.
